National Diploma in Mineral Processing and Extractive Metallurgy

Mineral Processing and Extractive Metallurgy is the practice of removing valuable metals from an ore and refining the extracted raw metals into a purer form. In order to convert a metal oxide or sulfide to a purer metal, the ore must be reduced physically, chemically, or electrolytically.

Studying for a Mineral Processing and Extractive Metallurgy Diploma at Zimbabwe School of Mines requires a good head for sciences. The course equips students  with an in-depth understanding of the processes applied in the extraction of minerals from ores, alloying, and value addition.

At Zimbabwe School of Mines, mineral processing and extractive metallurgy practical applications in engineering and industry are emphasised through field trips to the mines and attachment. The subjects you may touch on include Mineral Processing, Hydrometallurgy, Pyrometallurgy, and Engineering Mathematics among many courses.

Course duration : 3 Yrs
